Deadline for Foreign Asset Declaration Starts on February 15

Starting February 15, the Declaration of Brazilian Capital Abroad (DCBE) for the 2024 base year must be submitted.

Key Points:

✔️ Mandatory Filing: The DCBE is required for individuals or legal entities residing in Brazil that hold foreign assets equal to or exceeding USD 1,000,000.00.

✔️ Scope: The declaration must include assets, rights, financial instruments, foreign currencies, deposits, real estate, company shares, securities, trade credits, and other holdings abroad.

✔️ Penalties: Failure to submit the DCBE or providing incorrect information may result in fines of up to BRL 250,000.00.

Foreign-Controlled Entities: Must comply with the new guidelines of Law No. 14.754/2023, which requires the preparation of an annual balance sheet following international accounting standards (IFRS) or Brazilian GAAP (BR GAAP), depending on the case.
